As a response to this, the National Chlamydia Screening Programme was set up. The aim of the programme is to offer Chlamydia screening to all under 25 year olds who are sexually active. Every area in the country has its own Chlamydia screening programme.
The Oxfordshire project team has their offices at the Churchill Hospital. However screening sites are located throughout the whole county.
The screen consists of a self taken test. This is a urine sample for men and a self taken vaginal swab for women. All results are handled by the team who inform each person individually of their results. No other person or people are informed of either your screen or results without permission.
This is very quick and easy way to make the first steps into looking after your sexual health. The team are experienced in sexual health work and will offer help, advice and referral to GU Medicine if appropriate.
