Getting tested

If you're sexually active, you're at risk of catching a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Examinations may sound scary, but getting screened for STIs is easy and can prevent health complications for you and your sexual partners.

For young people

Young people less than 16 years old have the same rights to confidentiality as those over 16 yrs old

The Clinics

The Oxford and Banbury Sexual Health Clinics are Genitourinary Medicine Clinics offering a full range of sexual health services. Advice and treatment are free and confidential.

Services provided include:

Information and advice on sexual health
Testing for and treatment / management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other genital problems
Screening for infections, and support after sexual assault and rape
HIV/AIDS advice and testing
Emergency contraception, up to 72 hours after unprotected sex

The clinics are open access - this means that you do not have to be referred by your GP. It also means that you do not have to live locally to use this service. All tests and treatment are confidential and free of charge. Any medication needed will be given to you by the clinic.

You may feel nervous about visiting the clinic. Our staff are trained and experienced in dealing with people who are worried about very personal problems.
